Being so small (it's a 1U, half-rack width module), its tiny 2 x 16 LCD and awkward user interface makes editing and creating sounds difficult - an experience not unlike decorating your hallway through the letterbox in the front door! - but as a source of preset, quality 'bread-and-butter' sounds (as well as more unusual sounds), the X5DR is something of a sonic bargain. If you ever see one going cheap in the classifieds, buy it - a truly terrific collection of sounds in such a compact little case. |
